wasabi wii chip

The All New Wasabi DX

Easy installation - It has never been easier to install a Wii modchip. Connect the chip to your drive on one side and connect the board to the chip with the supplied cable on the other side using the connectors, plug it on the drive chip, and start playing!

Quality - Wasabi V2 and V3 have been known to most installers as the most solid chips on the market. Wasabi DX will be no exception and features a thicker PCB.

Price - The only complaint we've got from users regarding original Wasabi has been its price. We reworked our price structure, you'll be able to get the ultimate chip for a very reasonable price.

By releasing the original Wasabi without JTAG, we made it clear that users should not require external programmers, and that they can fully update their chip using DVD, and we still stand by this philosophy. Still, JTAG upgradability is something that installers kept asking for, to manage their stock without fear of a new drive revision. It is for them that we included this feature.

  3. Piece of cake

Posted by Stratplayer on 17th Aug 2009

After fitting a d2pro on my own Wii, this was a dream to fit on my sisters!! It took me 15 minutes start to finish, of which 13 minutes of that was probably the taking apart and putting back together again. Works a treat with backups, got homebrew channel and usb loading working ok.

A bargain at £28. Don't delay if you are thinking about it, its soooo easy.

It took longer to open up the console than it did to install this chip.
Once inside all you need to do is remove the DVD data cable carefully by lifting the clip - make sure you note which way the cable 'pins' are facing, place the supplied cable in it's place and attach the chip in between. The image on the website shows which end to attach each cable as it isn't actually marked on the board, then set your region using the dip switches and test. Cover the top with a bit of leccy tape and re-assemble the console.
I had an initial problem with booting some originals but a firmware update ( 1.2 ) released a couple of days later resolved that.
Pressing eject 3 times on the main Wii channel screen brings up the config menu and allows you to turn off region checking, autoboot backups and to block updates.
I checked numerous backups from different regions including dual layer without a problem and the update blocker option from the config screen worked well on my 3.2E when I inserted Wii Fit which wanted to update - I just agreed and it continued.
Overall an absolute doddle for anyone who can open a console.
