Troubleshooting your modchip install

Before calling us about not being able to get your wii modchip working with backup games please make sure you go through the following most commonly asked questions :

THE FOLLOWING APPLIES TO : WASABI DX : DRIVEKEY : WASPKEY : FLATMOD

Is your wii console serial code less than LEH276- ?

YES IT IS, WHAT NOW? : Go to the next step
NO IT'S A NUMBER HIGHER THAN THAT AND I HAVE NEVER REPLACED THE BOARD ON THE DVDROM UNIT : Please click here for more info

Have you set the dip switches on the chip?

The dip switches can be located on the modchip and need to be set to your consoles region otherwise it will not read the disk, you can flick the dip switches (little white indicators inside a black box) using a biro pen or somehign similar, failing that try all 4 possible combinations of dip switches 1 & 2 (ON,ON - ON,OFF - OFF, OFF - OFF,ON) switches 3 and 4 where applicable should always be off - restart your console after every attempt at changing the switches.

Are you sure the chip is connected the connected the correct way round?

The DVD side should plug into your DVD rom, and wii side into your wii - Simple i know but you'd be suprised at how many people get this wrong - if you are not sure try both ways round it will not damage the chip or console

Can you access the config menu of the chip?

All these types of chips apart from the flatmod have an onscreen config menu, to access it turn on your wii console, press A to continue and once you get all your wii channels showing press eject 3 times quickly, wait 10 seconds and in the top left hand corner of your wii channel you should be able to access your config menu.  So can you see this menu

YES I CAN, ALSO MY ORIGINAL GAMES STILL WORK : Go to the next step
NO I CAN'T, THERE IS NO CONFIG MENU AND MY ORIGINAL GAMES DO NOT WORK WITH THE CHIP INSTALLED : O.k the chip sounds like it may have a fault, please send it back to us for a replacement using the returns form off the contact page

Which brand of disks are you using and software to burn?

These types of chips are very sensitive to the type of media you use, hands down the best to use are VERBATIM DVD-R, we recommend no other type of media is used other than these, what may work in another chipped wii console will not work with these types of cable clip chips.  We also recommend using imgburn to burn your iso's, it;s a free download so just google it or get it from our downloads section.

YES THIS WORKED, THANKS!
NO IT'S STILL NOT WORKING
