Q: I have an D2B type console, can I use a replacement DVD from a D2C console and chip?
A: Yes you can use D2C DVD drives with D2B console and vice versa, whats more you can also use the newer type of chips when replacing your DVD drive with a newer type.

Q: I hear there are new "unmoddable" consoles, is this true?
A:
There are newer type consoles refferred to as "D2C-2" or "D2C2", currently these can be modded the the D2Pro 9 wire version which you can purchase on this website, the D2Pro's we have available are the latest version 9 wire chips which are compatible with these new type of chipsets which seem to have been released since the 1st May 2008, if you purchase your console after this date please make sure you have the right chipset before deciding which chip you want.

Q: What's the difference between D2CPro and D2CKey?
A: Both are identical chips, the main difference between the two are that D2CKey will probably (but not for certain) have better support and compatibility with backups and also has LED's to indicate it's functions, whereas the D2CPro has the disable feature which is an optional install - These discrepancies are very minor if you are unsure then just go for the D2CKey.

Q: Is it safe to chip my wii?
A:
Well firstly for sure is that as soon as you open your Wii your 1st year warranty will be void, which isn;t the end of the world, chances are nothing is going to go wrong with your console within the first year anyway, if you're console is over a year old this doesn't affect you and other repair services are available, nintendo will still accept your console in for repair if we can't fix the problem.

Second biggest issue is you could "brick" your console (render it inoperable), bricking occurs when you install a mod chip and update your consoles firmware using Wiiconnect24 or from a game from another region (i.e.: use a JAP game to update a PAL console will brick your wii), this should not be confused with playing games online as you can still do this with a mod chip safely, to combat this problem turn off Wiiconnect24 and use the updating facility provided by your games discs, just make sure you use a game with the same region of your console whilst doing such an update.

Q: Are your mod chips genuine?
A:
Yes all our mod chips are genuine, we do not use cheap copies.

Q: What type of media discs should I use?
A:
This is quite important some discs will not sometimes not work, you should use better quality media like TDK, Verbatim, Sony etc

Q: What Program should I use to burn my discs?
A:
Use imageburn, it's free, simple and has never failed us! you can download it from http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download

Q: What type of blank discs should I use for my backups?
A: Some blank DVDR discs have known compatibility issues, for peace of mind use TDK, Taiyo, Yuden or Verbatim discs - Get DVD-R and AVOID MEMOREX

Q: Is it hard to install and the 1 wire to disable the D2CPro, and do you get a diagram where this goes?
A: Difficulty level is fairly easy, the contact point is not small so you will need a steady hand and a 15watt soldering iron with precision tip & flux to do this, Please visit the install instructions page to see where to do this.

Q: Will i have to solder any wires to make the D2CPro region free?
A: No, we will do this for you, if your console is not a PAL default then please let us know when ordering

Q: Will the chips need updating every so often?
A: If it's not broke don't fix it, or so the saying is! Yes there are benefits to upgrading the firmware of the chips however you should only do this if you are experiencing problems certain discs. if in doubt google it or ask us. If you choose our install service we will upgrade the firmware for you to the latest version. Be wary that some discs which are not from your region when loaded into your Wii will want to upgrade the firmware.

Q: How long does the console send and receive service take?
A: If you send your console to us via royal mail special 12 you should get it back within 2-5 working days, please allow this amount of time to elapse before contacting us.

Q: Is it safe to use the online payment method?
A: Certainly, for all our transaction which run through https secure 1024-bit encryption

Q: Can I order over the phone?
A: Sorry we takes order securely online only, however if your enquiry is urgent please leave your phone number on the contact form and we will call you back as soon as we can

Q: What is bricking?
A: Bricking: When a Wii stops working after it tries to update its firmware with a different region firmware,
or if it can't update, hence becoming as useful and entertaining as a brick.
Semi-Bricking: When a Wii experiences reduced functionality after it tries to update its firmware with
the firmware of a different region. Typically the settings menu is no longer accessible, but games
are still playable, hence, "semi-bricked".

Q: How can I prevent bricking?
A: Turn off Wiiconnect24 (you can still play online via your wifi connection), If you have a pal Wii only use PAL versions of ISO's,same with Japanese (JAP) and US consoles (NTSC) - There are some conversion tools out there but we haven't tested them yet.

Q: Will WiiConnect24 update brick my modded Wii?
A:
We would also recommend turning off WiiConnect24 updates, there currently seems to be some mixed confusion about whether it will or won't, from experience it has never happened to us but we have read that it can so to be on the safe side just turn off this option for the time being!

Q: I've heard my can console overheat with a mod chip installed, is this true?
A:
Very unlikely that this would happen, it would have to be a hot day with your wii getting hammered for a fair few hours and you would have to tape up the vent on the DVD drive. So when you install you chip only put electrical tape over the chip itself, our D2C chips come with perfectly cut sticky back tape so no need worry about this!

Q: Can I play online with the WiiKey and D2CPro/D2CKey
A:
The manufacturer states yes, however be careful of online updates as mentioned in the bricking section above.

Q: Where do I solder the 1 wire for stealth mode on the D2CPro?
A: It's the middle point behind your reset switch, will be labeled SW2 on the PCB of your Wii, be careful this one is a bit tricky! Other end goes to the RE point of the D2CPro

Q: What is stealth mode on the D2CPro?
A: This is why we love the D2CPro, when correctly wired (see above FAQ) you can press and hold the reset button to disable the chip, then go online to update your Wii console with the official nintendo firmware download, making your Wii compatible with all the latest games, lovely jubbly!

Q: Can I have a step by step guide to update the firmware of my Wiikey?
A: First download a free program called “imageburn” onto your computer, can be downloaded here and only needs to installed once :
http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download (click mirror 1), you can also use this program to burn your backups, next download and install winrar on your PC: http://www.rarsoft.com/rar/wrar371.exe ok your PC is now forever ready to unrar and burn the firmware disks once they are released! Next download the latest firmware which is always on our website in the homepage of the left hand column, if you subscribe to our firmware updates I will automatically send you and email of the latest one once it’s released : http://www.wiikey.cn/DL/wiikey.1.9s.pal.rar select open and extract (using winrar which at this point should be open) the iso file to anywhere on your PC, then use imageburn to burn the iso file to a dvd, then all you have to do is put in a DVD, wait for it to load and press the reset button once to test, then again when it tells you to!
